Adelaide, Australia: Basket Range, Hahndorf, Mount Lofty, Beerenberg

On Day 5, we  left Kangaroo Island by Ferry, drove to Willow Cottage in the Basket Range. Enroute, visited the Hahndorf, a German town. On day 6 we visited the Mount Lofty, the highest point in the basket range area, and also picked strawberries at the Beerenberg. Finally, tea break at the Hahndorf again, as the apple strudel there is superb!

The next day (Day 5), I was pleasantly greeted by a gorgeous sunrise at Kingscote. Grabbed my camera, and rushed to the glass. The sun rise was happening so quickly, there was no time to find key to unlock the two doors to go out. Hence, this was taken from behind kitchen window glass!!

We checked out of the Kingscote cottage and continued on to the ferry terminal to catch the ferry back to the main land.

On the way to the Adelaide’s Basket Range, we stopped by the Yankalilla Hotel for lunch. I had a laksa, which tasted like some tom yum noodles, it was pretty good, given the rarity of the asian food along the way. In Adelaide city, there is a china town, which we will visit later – maybe they will serve more chinese food there.

Before we move to our Willow Cottage in the mountains, we stopped by the hadndorf, a german town.

Tea break is at the “German Cake shop”, a cafe that has garnered good reviews. The shop also sells German clocks, which are displayed as part of the cafe’s displays and decos.

This is the Hahndorf  Inn, which serves up good German fare. We will be visiting this place later in the trip, so here’s the photo for now :)

Finally, we drove and reached the Willow Cottage. It was a little stressful as we got “lost” around the end point. Apparently, the map given to us was a little out, and we were misled into turning into Hunters. After 30min of figuring, we managed to find the place. Thank God!

Finally we arrived at the Mt Lofty visitor centre.

Soon it was late, we head back to our cottage. Enroute, we saw cattles and sheeps. The cows were so afraid of our approach that they stood there stunned, in line.

So we decided to shoot something from afar haha… Good night!
